In a post on Facebook this morning, Mikkeller announced that they will be closing their brewery at Citi Field in Queens permanently. The brewery, which had thrived with foot traffic in its two pre-pandemic baseball seasons, was forced to move to a delivery and curbside pickup model once the COVID-19 outbreak began, and lost a major source of revenue without on-site consumption.

Mikkeller Brewing NYC opened at the start of the 2018 Mets season and was regularly near capacity prior to games. In addition, packaged beer was produced at the Citi Field facility and distributed throughout the New York market. Packaged beer will continue to be available in New York, but from its San Diego brewery, where Mikkeller is consolidating brewing operations.

Below is the official announcement:

Dear friends and followers,

We have had to make the difficult decision to permanently close the Mikkeller Brewing NYC location at Citi Field. With no foreseeable customers at Citi Field, Mikkeller is consolidating its NYC brewery with its San Diego brewery and closing Mikkeller NYC.

Thank you for your support over the past two and a half years; we are extremely grateful to have been part of the New York brewing community, and to have had the opportunity to present our beers in this incredible location.

Mikkeller fans will still be able to get freshly brewed Mikkeller beers in New York at their favourite stores, bars and restaurants.

We loved our time in Citi Field and wish everyone the best during this difficult time.

Take care,
The Mikkeller team
